The Product Manager has the primary responsibility for successfully driving products through the development process from requirements definition through to a complete internal launch. In this role, the Product Manager will work closely with the (Education) Segment Managers and with the R&D team. In addition, the Product Manager has responsibility for the process of product portfolio review and management. The Product Manager may be assigned as owner of certain "platform" products with the responsibility to manage the product requirements set to maximize value to PASCO as a whole and meet the needs of the segment market plans. The Product Manager will also have responsibility for software product input to the annual PASCO catalogs.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Project manage the product delivery process from conception through launch

  • Provide Segment Managers with business case support
  • Provide assistance to Segment Managers and Engineering in the design of new products through the development of market requirements documents (MRDs). Review proposed changes for dependencies and impacts across the integrated solution. Resolve or communicate as appropriate.
  • Provide assistance to Segment Managers and Engineering/Procurement on defining third party product needs, evaluating sourced product, and finalizing business agreements with third parties.
  • Serve as liaison between Marketing, Sales, Channels/Channel Managers, Engineering, Technical Support, and Production.
  • Drive product development projects for schedule, scope/functionality and cost objectives and drive trade-off discussions and decisions as necessary. Work with engineering management to resolve issues.
  • Manage product documentation/release through internal systems.
  • Own the process of launching new or revised products through engineering release, pilot run and first production run.
  • Create and maintain or drive the creation/maintenance of master content information in the content vault, including product launch in web store.
  • Ensure adequate testing strategies for solutions, coordinate with the Quality Facilitator to document procedures, and monitor implementation.

Drive the process of Portfolio management

  • Define and manage a periodic review process to identify profitability issues and opportunities in the product portfolio
  • Initiate and/or participate in cost reduction projects
  • Manage product end-of-life process
  • Provide input to the annual pricing process

Manage PASCO Software plan of record and Data Logger product

  • Establish and keep prioritized an evergreen requirements set.
    • Sales and Segment Manager inputs
    • Tech Support logs and field reports
    • Internal reports
    • Market research reports and external data sources
  • Launch both internally and externally any new releases/features related to assigned platform products
    • Ensure that field sales, selling partners, other customer points of contact, and channel and marketing partners receive new product release/launch information and training as appropriate.
    • Establish and maintain web content and marketing materials as appropriate for assigned platform products


  • Provide assistance in the development of the Engineering product road map.
  • Maintain relevant competitive information
  • Participate in NPI, Engineering, Forecast, and other relevant meetings


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum BS in a science, computer science or engineering discipline
  • 3-5 years of Program management experience with Agile software development
  • Demonstrated business case analysis, proposal creation and delivery skills
  • Strong cross-functional collaborative management skills
  • Excellent written, presentation and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with productivity applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Work (Sheets, Slides, Doc)
  • Occasional domestic and international travel


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical knowledge of iOS, Chrome, Windows, Mac and Android operating systems and applications
  • Experience in integrating Probeware educational technologies into science education
  • Familiarity with pedagogical trends and research
  • Proficiency with additional applications especially QAD, JIRA, Confluence, and FreeMind
